In collaboration with the Festival of Architecture, join Objectspace for a breakfast conversation with super(heroine)–wāhine from the fields of architecture, design and urban planning.
“Weaving dialogue about our aspirations and ambitions for the built environment, He Reo Wāhine draws from our whenua, our communities — forged, familiar, and fought for — and our desire to create beauty, and to transform through the opportunities born out of the human experience of inhabiting on the land.
Wā (time) and hine (women), wāhine are a collective continuum of the consciousness of all women through time. Elisapeta Heta (Ngāti Wai, Architectural Graduate, Jasmax) will lead kōrero with panellists including Desna Whaanga-Schollum, Amiria Puia-Taylor Raukura Turei and Natalie Couch, seeking to empower the bold and fierce position our mana wāhine bring to a time of change.
This kōrero is the third in an ongoing conversation that started in Wellington as part of City Talks during Mātariki 2017 and continued during last year’s Festival of Architecture at Artspace, Auckland. We would like to acknowledge that many of these kōrero are stemming from the signing of Te Kawenata o Rata between the NZIA and Ngā Aho and would like to thank both organisations ongoing support. As we continue to weave our baskets and place them alongside each other, we cooperate, collaborate and continue to discuss what the future of our built environment needs to be: beautiful, inclusive, safe, equitable and providing a platform for generations to come.”
