Kia ora koutou katoa, welcome to the DIRECTORY OF WOMEN DESIGNERS, a new project initiated by Designers Speak (Up), organised by Katie Kerr, Alice Connew and Catherine Griffiths. We aim to establish a contemporary, historic and perpetual index of Aotearoa New Zealand designers who identify as women of any gender experience, living and deceased, of all diversities — social, sexual, cultural, ethnic — anywhere in the world.
Students, graduates, practitioners, teachers, educators, academics … fill out the form, and we will do the rest. If you know other designers who should be included, please share. Updates to the list are made every day or so. We’re open to ideas, offers of support, and are here to help — contact us, we’ll be in touch.
Ma whero ma pango ka oti ai te mahi / With red and black the work will be complete.

Just had a look at the long list. My friend Suzy Pennington died in 2013. Should she be on the list. Philip

Hi Philip, that’s very sad to hear … we have listed her name, but not her details. Are you (or is someone) able to provide this info? Can be sent in a reply to this note or in a message and we’ll update. Thanks so much xx
